Activities:

  • Arts - The arts are encouraged through programming in drama, singing, dancing, and art instruction by professionals.  These programs are ongoing and also offered at scheduled times.
  • Crafts - Weekly crafts are scheduled.  Children are encouraged to be creative and also work on independent projects.
  • Computer Use - Parents must give permission for their children to use our computers.  You can print out a permission form by clicking here.
  • Table / Board Games - Concern uses table games and board games as activities for youth that help to foster sportsmanship, develop skills, and have fun.
  • Educational Assistance - After school staff and volunteers are available to assist young people with their homework or other projects. The computer may be utilized for these purposes. Throughout the year other educational programs are available to assist students with skill development, and broaden their knowledge on a variety of topics.
  • Community Service Clubs - Concern has a club called L.I.F.E. Club that meets weekly to work on projects that young people feel are important and would like to do something about in their community. The young people identify community projects, and learn a variety of skills in the accomplishment of these projects.
  • Youth advisory board - Students who have attended the center on a regular basis are asked to sit on an advisory board that meets twice a month to offer input on programming and policy ideas for the center. They are also involved in the hiring process of staff that work directly with youth.  Check the staff page to see the members.
  • Board of Directors - We also have youth, 16 and older who are on our Concern Board of Directors.  Check the staff page to see the members.
